ALMATY SWIM RACE, OWWT 3rd STAGE

The past weekend, the Open Water World Tour moved to Kazahkkstan, at the Kapchagai Reservoir to host its 3rd stage. The event took place in the Heaven Club Resort. The 3rd event of the OWWT’18 was the Almaty Marathon  Swim Race. This amazing event had a participation of 200 swimmers that they enjoyed so much to being able to race in a such spectacular spot.

At the longest distance race (5 km), Vladimir Tolikin was the fastest swimmer controlling the race from the beggining, crossing the finish line  in 1 hour 13 minutes and 32 seconds.. Among women, it was Ekaterina Shatnaya with a finish time of 1 hour 44 minutes and 14 seconds who won the female race without giving options to her rivals.

Almaty Marathon Swim Race has become one of the annual events, that entered the swim series Open Water World Tour. This is good news for sports fans, actively developing in the direction of triathlon starts. Almaty Marathon Swim Race organizers support these aspirations and create events where athletes can test themselves and prepare for other competitions, “comments Saltanat Kazybayeva, director of Almaty Marathon.

One of the things that make this event so special is that they give actively support to charitable projects.

The organizers of the competition were the Corporate Fund “Courage to Be First”, the World Class Almaty Fitness Club and the Academic Shahmardan Yesenov Science and Education Foundation.

Almaty marathon team continues direction in. So, this year on the Fallout within the social project Challenge “Another you!”, Initiated by the “Samruk-Kazyna” Foundation, a separate distance was organized for special children from the project of the Voluntary Society “Mercy” “Autism We Will Win”. 22 children together with their parents overcame the water element and received well-deserved medals.

But OWWT doesn’t stop, and the following weekend the 4th stage of our Tour will be held in Cancun in the incredible Cruce a Isla Mujeres Xa’ay Chuups.
